Why is it that in the 21st century businesses are still using advertising and marketing techniques that are centuries old?
I was talking to a gentlemen only the other day at a networking event about how using Google Adwords he could triple (If not better) his overall sales/orders on a monthly basis. His reply was that he could receive more sales/orders in a week by taking out an ad in his local newspaper than by advertising on the internet for a whole month. When I asked why he thought this he simply and calmly replied “Well, nobody uses the internet to buy stuff do they”. I am absolutely bemused that companies are surviving in this economic crisis with this dim view towards what is clearly the best tool in business today (The Internet that is).
This is not the first time I have come across this scenario as I am regularly talking to businesses about there advertising and marketing plans as I myself work in this industry ( www.curomarketing.com ). As soon as you mention you are an advertising agency the immediately jump to the conclusion you are a con artist and its not possible to make them money by advertisng their products/services on the internet.
